Maui has its humpback waves.  Capistrano has its swallows. But the question most asked by visitors to this historic waterfront destination in Monterey is “where do we see the sea otters?” These lovable animals, once thought to be extinct, are born entertainers and never miss an opportunity to perform for their adoring audiences. This portrait of a sea otter and her pup is perhaps Robert’s most famous rendering of these playful marine mammals.  He has perfectly captured the soft light of the central California coast as it highlights the animal’s soft fur. The next best thing to being there.
