“Effortless Pathfinders” is another of Robert’s classic “Two Worlds” paintings of the Lahaina waterfront. The pathfinders are, of course, the humpback whales who each year return to the warm waters off Maui to give birth to their young. Like the ancient Polynesians, the need no maps or compasses to find their way home. Each year around Christmastime the first humpbacks are sighted and soon a small armada of whale watching boats will be filled with tourists making there first acquaintance with these amazing lords of the sea.
